While 201 grade is approximately 15-20% less expensive, it is more susceptible to rust in high-humidity or coastal environments. The Residential Series is designed for easy, tool-free maintenance. Weekly or bi-weekly maintenance involves: (1) Lifting the grate by hand (no tools required) — the grate features a small pull tab for easy removal; (2) Removing the integrated hair catcher basket and disposing of accumulated debris; (3) Rinsing the basket and grate under running water; (4) Replacing the basket and grate. For periodic deep cleaning (monthly or quarterly), use a mild liquid detergent and soft-bristle brush to clean the internal channel. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or chlorine-based chemicals that can damage the brushed stainless steel surface. The entire maintenance process takes less than 2 minutes.
